Discussion:
MeetingMaker with LDAP

As we progress with Meetingmaker and our own University servers we are
transferring more systems to LDAP for the one sign-on ability. As we begin
our testing I was wondering if any others had implemented LDAP into MM and
the horror/success findings you had. If anyone has input or suggestions I
would appreciate all feedback on this integration process

I've tried Google and searching the archive of this list, but I can't seem to find any mention of a problem I've had sporadically with some of my Mac users and now consistently with one of them. The user in question is on an Intel MacMini running an up to date version of Mac OS 10.4 - I have other users with the same configuration who have no problems.

After a clean install of the MM 7.5 client, the user is able to select their time zone and the server to connect to. However, when the user terminates the client, upon relaunching the timezone and server have been "forgotten" and when the user clicks the Select button to specify the server, an error to the following effect appears:

"Could not complete your request because the network is not configured."

The only reliable workaround I've found is trashing the ~/Library/Preferences/Meetingmaker folder and restarting the computer, then relaunching.

Any help (or even just knowing that I'm not alone) is appreciated.

We had a similar problem with MM 7.5 on 10.4.x, and we eventually had
to upgrade to 8.5 to fix it because 7.5 isn't supported on 10.4. Our
experience was roughly the same as yours, where 7.5 worked on most
10.4 machines but fail to connect consistently on others. My advice
would be to have that user use the web client (assuming they don't
need to sync a Palm.)

Thanks,
Rich

I think that the other part of the equation is that you're running on
an Intel machine. There is a specific 8.5 installer for Intel based
Macs, so I wouldn't be surprised if 7.5 might have some weird quirks.
